There are many reasons to visit Zimbabwe: the fact that it is home to the spectacular Victoria Falls, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”; the exclusive wildlife found in its national parks, especially the extensive bird species, king cheetah and the samango monkey; the abundant natural resources in minerals and agriculture; or the rich history and heritage of the land. When there is so much one can do, perhaps just one reason is good enough for a visit. Explore this wondrous land and you will be surprised at how much beauty there is on offer.
Leap off that bridge The Victoria Falls are, without a doubt, one of the world's grandest natural spectacles. It's no wonder that missionary David Livingstone described the falls as “scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”. Known by the local Kololo tribe as “Moso oa Tunya” or “The Smoke that Thunders”, this 1.7 kilometre-wide and 108 metre-high water curtain is truly a sight to behold, and what better way to appreciate their splendour than to dive straight into them? The one and only Victoria Falls Bridge bungee jump offers you the opportunity to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush. Count to three before leaping off the 111-metre high bridge straight into the Zambezi River down below. Four seconds of freefall never felt more glamourous! Even the most hardcore adrenaline junkies would approve.

Raft down the world's largest waterfall
Whitewater rafting may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Victoria Falls but whitewater rafting was actually the first of the adrenaline activities to be introduced in Victoria Falls. To get an idea of what your rafting experience will be like, study the names of the rapids: Stairway to Heaven, The Terminator, Oblivion, The Washing Machine, Judgment Day and Devil's Toilet Bowl. As the intensity of the rafting varies according to the fluctuating rainfall and water levels in the Zambezi River, this element of unpredictability only adds to the excitement of the experience. While the rapids may be grade 5 (with grade 6 being the fastest) at some points, there are also stretches of calm water on the journey where you can rest, relax and take in the magnificent scenery and surrounding wildlife.

Canoe in Lake Kariba
Along the mighty Zambezi River lies Lake Kariba, the second largest man-made lake in Africa and among the four largest in the world. Created in the early 1960s when a dam was constructed in the Zambezi River to provide hydro-electric power, Lake Kariba is an incredible picture of beauty and mystery today. This wildlife paradise has a myriad of activities that can be customised for any itinerary – game viewing, fishing, bird watching, canoeing and house boat safaris. Opt for a relaxing canoe ride and ready your cameras for the reflection of the brilliant sunset in the lake, the fish eagles hunting for fish, or the hippo resting on the shores by the lake. Your experienced guide will lead the way and show you the inner workings of the lake's ecosystem and also teach you how to spot some of the lake's more elusive residents.
