Dubrovnik is arguably Croatia’s prettiest town and it’s not difficult to see why. Perched along the azure coast of the Adriatic, the sea-battered ancient city with its gleaming stone buildings, crimson roofs and picturesque time-trodden alleyways is undoubtedly its crown jewel, but intrepid travellers will do well to peel away its gorgeous outer layers to discover panoramic mountain vistas, delightful lingering trails and a slew of idyllic offshore islands nestled charmingly at its inner core. If you are looking to peer deeper into this pearl of a city, join Chan Brothers Travel Private Tours on your very own customised Dubrovnik and Croatia tour package to unravel the magic of this true-blue medieval marvel.
Look from the outside in
While the atmospheric Old Town is the best place to settle comfortably into Dubrovnik’s most obvious charms, it doesn’t offer the number one view in town. For the top spot to take in all the lay of the land, head up and above those ancient fortress walls by ascending Mount Srd, the mountain that looms over it all. A cable car zips you up to the summit in no time for you to sample the majesty of Dubrovnik’s setting at its best.

Dining Dubrovnik
Dining in Dubrovnik is a tricky affair. While it has got its fair share of restaurants that offer bland and patronising tourist menus that locals shun well clear of, the other end of the spectrum is the entire opposite. From waterside taverns where you can head off for a swim while your food is being cooked, to cosy restaurants offering the best of traditional cuisine and the best Croatian wines, a good hearty dose of Dalmatian dining awaits you beyond the surface. One such place is Wanda Restaurant offering the freshest local seafood in one of the secondary lanes in the Old Town. Signature dishes include grilled scampi, fishermen’s stew and whole fresh fish grilled in its own juice and drizzled with the purest of olive oil. One tip – avoid the main promenade at all cost.

Sea games
No one should miss frolicking in and around the sea of the Adriatic when in Dubrovnik and we say so with a strong conviction. Dubrovnik’s harbour is the natural gateway to the wild and sparsely populated islands of Lopud, Sipan and Kolocep – sneaky sunbathing spots for a perfect afternoon date. Alternatively, work those muscles with a paddle on a kayak around Lokrum Island and discover hidden cave beaches before making your return trip in time to meet the rays of the sunset shining down on you.
