Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

This morning, explore Strasbourg, a unique city situated at the border of France and Germany, that has changed her nationality six times from France to Germany and then back to France in 1949. Embark on a walking tour to view the city’s main landmark, Strasbourg Cathedral. The highlight of this cathedral is the Astronomical Clock which was constructed in 1547 by a team of Swiss clockmakers. In front of the clock stands the Pillar of Angels, which represents the Last Judgement. Also included in this walking tour is Strasbourg’s most beautiful half-timbered house, Maison Kammerzell which is only a stone’s throw away from the cathedral. On Place Gutenberg stands the Chamber of Commerce building which was formerly the town hall. Thereafter, stroll along the street of Petite France which features a succession of half-timbered houses, quaint shops, inviting bistros, and a waterfront promenade.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

This morning, arrive to Speyer a town located beside the river Rhine. Founded by the Romans, it is one of Germany’s oldest cities. Enjoy a guided walking tour through Old Town to the grand Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first churches in the city date back to the sixth century, and the foundation for the cathedral was laid in 1030. Nearby, a well-preserved mikvah, or ritual bath, bear witness to a thriving Jewish community that dates back roughly to the same era; it is the oldest remaining bath of its kind in Europe. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure to discover and explore this town. In the afternoon, travel to Heidelberg. Visit Heidelberg Castle, the most popular castle ruin in Germany, and Heidelberg Tun, reputed to be the world’s largest wine barrel. At nearly 23 feet high and 28 feet wide, the cask holds over 58,000 gallons of wine and has a dance floor built on top of it!

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

Today, visit Rudesheim a winemaking town in the Rhine Gorge that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the prestigious Castle Vollrads, a magnificent 14th-century castle situated ideally in the vineyard-covered hills of the Rheingau. Despite being one of the smallest wine-growing regions of Germany, the area is internationally renowned for its Rieslings, and Castle Vollrads is one of the world’s top wine estates for the varietal. Enjoy a wine tasting session, you will get to savour some of the exquisite wines produced in this region. Thereafter, enjoy a relaxing afternoon as you take a scenic cruise along the romantic Rhine and the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage-designated Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Picturesque castles appear around every bend of the river in a 40-mile stretch, a sight which inspired poets, painters, and composers throughout the 19th century. Upon arrival in Koblenz, embark on a walking tour of the city that reveals an eventful past through its enchanting lanes, historic squares, picturesque alleyways, fountains in the old quarter, and the 12th century churches of St Florin and Our Beloved Lady.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

In the morning, awaken on the romantic Rhine and enjoy a morning cruise along the castle-lined river as we journey towards Cochem. History comes to life in charming Cochem, a traditional German town which features half timbered houses and boasts an exceptionally scenic location in the Mosel River. Enjoy a guided tour of Reichsburg Castle, that dramatically rises above the town. Reichsburg Castle is more than just a castle, it is also the largest hill-castle on the Mosel. Next, enjoy a walking tour through the Old Town, to admire a variety of fine buildings, quaint cottages, black and tan guild houses and winding streets. Few towns in Germany can match the charm of Cochem, where legend, folklore and its rich history have been woven into every street with its picturesque beauty making it a most popular tourist destination.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

In the morning, explore Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city. Stroll through the narrow streets of Old Town Cologne, passing by tiny squares and small churches as you make your way to Cologne Cathedral, the city’s most famous landmark. It took 632 years for Germany’s largest cathedral to be completed, and today it is also one of the most important Gothic churches in Europe. Within this UNESCO World Heritage Site, the remains of the fabled Three Kings – the Magi are believed to lie at rest. Discover and explore the history of the cathedral where Christian pilgrims have been flocking to for centuries to admire its magnificent artifacts, especially the pieces surrounding the Shrine of the Magi. Spend some time exploring this historic Old Town, or perhaps sample some of the famous Kolsch beer, locally brewed in Cologne for over a hundred years!

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

This afternoon, arrive into the wonderful little city of Hoorn. Uncover a rich seafaring history as you tour Hoorn on foot. See the markings on medieval buildings that denote the former inhabitants’ trades. Next, travel to Enkhuizen, home to the fascinating Zuiderzee outdoor museum, a reconstructed 19th-century village that lets you see how life was lived in a busy fishing port over a century ago. Then, rejoin the vessel in Amsterdam. This evening, celebrate a wonderful trip with your travel companions at a farewell dinner hosted by the captain of the cruise.

Breakfast/Dinner

Today, disembark at Amsterdam. Holland’s sophisticated, modern capital has a rich and fascinating history. This delightful 700-year-old city with its elegant and classic architecture, cafes, and restaurants has a distinct ambiance. There is no better way to see Amsterdam than on a canal cruise, cruising through the elegant grachten lined with stately homes dating back to Amsterdam’s “Golden Age”. Next, be dazzled by the diamond house in Amsterdam and see master diamond craftsmen at work. Then, proceed to Dam Square where Amstel River was dammed in the 13th century, thus giving the city its name. Next, witness the stellar attractions of Amsterdam such as Royal Palace, Church of Amsterdam and the resplendent National Monument. Spend some time at leisure for photo-taking or shopping.

Breakfast/Meals on Board

If time permits, of course there is always last-minute shopping before bidding farewell to Amsterdam as you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
