If time permits, you may board the historic Wellington Cable Car to ascend Wellington Botanic Garden or learn more about the beautiful skies at Carter Observatory. Thereafter, visit Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand’s innovative and interactive national museum where you can learn more about New Zealand’s unique geological, biological, cultural and social history.
Depart Wellington to Napier, located at the south of Hawke’s Bay and home to over 70 wineries, to experience a wide range of wines and indulge in epicurean adventures. You may also stop to explore the wildlife sanctuary at Mt Bruce after Masterton. Visit Pukaha Mt Bruce, home to a wildlife centre where you can meet some of New Zealand’s most endangered wildlife including a rare white kiwi, the only one in captivity.
This morning, enjoy a guided Art Deco walking tour of Napier to discover the architectural gems of the city. Later, drive to Taupo that has the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. Visit Huka Falls by taking the Hukafalls Jet or river cruise. Continue to the thermal city of Rotorua. You may wish to rejuvenate yourself with a massage therapy at Polynesia Spa.
This morning, consider a visit to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, New Zealand’s most colourful geothermal attraction. Alternatively, see Agrodome’s world-famous sheep show and go on an organic working farm tour. This evening, enter through the 12 carved posts, each representing a divine realm in Te Arawa culture at Te Heketanga a Rangi or Heavenly Origins. Enjoy Te Puia’s nightly Te Po Indigenous Evening Experience and feast on food and culture, while enjoying the friendship of the indigenous people.
Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour that includes an underground boat ride through the world-famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves before arrival in Auckland, , known as the City of Sails.
Today, join a popular full-day tour from Auckland to Paihia that includes a spectacular Hole in the Rock Dolphin Cruise tour in the sheltered waters of the Bay of Islands. Keep an eye out for common and bottlenose dolphins, whales and other marine life during your cruise, and have your camera ready as you get up close to them. Cruise past Cape Brett Lighthouse before arriving at the majestic Hole in the Rock centre on Motukokako Island. If conditions permit, your skipper will expertly guide the ship through the narrow space. Thereafter, cruise back into the inner islands of the bay.
Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore Auckland, New Zealand’s largest and most vibrant city that offers an exciting array of cosmopolitan experiences.
